Elements is situated on a complex site in Mosier, Oregon, with panoramic views of both the Columbia River Gorge and Coyote Syncline. The home features an expansive open living space, separated from the harsh elements by only a facade of continuous glass. A dramatic terrace cantilevers extensively toward the river west, providing covered exterior living. The lower plinth of the structure, from which numerous rectangular forms cantilever above, houses the primary sleeping quarters. This area then steps down to grade, completing a connection to the surrounding high-desert landscape.

From any point in the house you’re standing in, there’s floor-to-ceiling glass. You can literally just sit in your lounge chair and watch the weather change. That’s your afternoon entertainment.
