We're proud to be featured in Forbes this week as part of their America's Top Architects series. W/K partner Daniel Kaven spoke with Deputy Editor Fred Albert about Skyview, our four-story residence on a tight corner lot in Northwest Portland.
This is an example of a project where some of the most satisying solutions came from leaning into the site's constraints rather than resisting them. The lot was narrow, the setbacks were strict, and our clients were coming from a much more expansive property in a wooded area. So we decided to flip the conventional residential stack, placing the main living areas and much of the landscaping at the top, 30 feet above the noise and power lines of the street below.
